This blog is about me and my music. My current focus is on learning piano using the Sudnow Method and guitar improvisation. I currently play guitar in a band that concentrates on playing the early rock and roll of the 50’s and 60’s. I also play guitar in a trio setting that focuses more on the jazzy side. Seemingly irrelevant posts on this blog reflect topics that are probably expressed in my music somewhere.

Update
Will soon be starting a new on-line guitar course regarding improvisation. Today I happened to come across my chord melody sheet made up for “All the Things You Are,” and worked on bringing that tune back.

Music Day
A day of music.
In the morning went through a little guitar stuff.
Then played with the band at an old firehouse; really good time.
Then tonight there was a rehearsal for the Christmas Eve Mass.

More ideas
Ideas (Update):
1. Work through the Blues book. (Actually started it again recently).
2. Work on reading music in different guitar positions.
3. Work with this website: Here’s a game changer—- found on line a site in which you can plug in chords, and it will generate scales that can be used to play over the chords. Tried it tonight and ….. and……and…..it works! Played a little improv over “What Child is This,” and it worked! A true GAME CHANGER!
4. Chord melody songs
5. Sudnow Method for piano.

2. Use the Chord Tone Soloing book.
3. Use the Blues book.
4. Use the Charlie Christian book
5. Develop chord melody for songs

Back-to-back
Had a Christmas gig Saturday with the band at an old fire house / museum. Then another Christmas gig today for “Breakfast With Santa” at the Church. Some take-always:
1. My improvisations / solos need to be better.
2. Today was the public debut of using my Telecaster, and I like it.

Gig
This guitar stuff trying to learn Charlie Christian patterns is all good, but not the be-all-and-end-all to sounding like him.
Neither are scales Music. Seems like what needs to be done is using making Music out of the shapes and scales.
Played a good gig with the band today in an old fire station /museum. They also had toy trains set up:
